Welcome to Vals

Arrive, breathe, experience - a place to clear your mind

Some places have a way of making you feel at home the moment you arrive. Vals is not somewhere you pass through - it sits at the very end of a valley, and that’s exactly its strength. Here, nature reaches right up to your doorstep, and from your accommodation, the view opens wide across the landscape. Take a deep breath at 1,350 metres. A place where peace comes naturally, because nature is always at the centre. At the heart of it all lies the Fane Alm, with its rustic huts and small chapel.

But Vals is also the gateway to the Pfunderer mountains, home to one of the most beautiful high-altitude trails in the Alps. Some call it the “royal route” for ambitious hikers, others a path that leads them back to themselves. Turn full circle on the Steinermandl platform, and the entire panorama unfolds before you. In winter, Vals becomes a little wonderland. When snow blankets trees and paths, it’s time to head out: carve down the slopes in the Gitschberg Jochtal ski area, set off on ski tours, step straight from the village onto the cross-country trail or explore on a winter or snowshoe hike. One place - so much to experience.
