Welcome to Barbian
A leaning tower, a mystical place of power - and so many reasons to come back
There are quiet places that stand out precisely because of their stillness. Barbian is one of them - a village full of character. You see it in the leaning tower of the parish church and in how quickly nature takes over. Just a few steps from the centre and you’re already on your way to the Barbian waterfalls or to Dreikirchen. This mysterious hamlet, named after its three Gothic chapels, is a place of quiet empowerment. Only accessible on foot, it invites visitors to slow down and appreciate the silence - with breathtaking views of the Dolomites along the way. On the return to the village, you pass historic summer residences, architecturally charming reminders of times gone by. And every now and then, chestnuts fall from the trees lining the path. They are an intrinsic part of Barbian - just like the plums, its true signature. You can discover them along a themed trail or taste them in a variety of local dishes.
Here, enjoyment and movement go hand in hand. Especially in summer, when the Genussbrücke turns a suspension bridge between Barbian and Saubach into a spectacular dining location. An evening with a view - and just one of many highlights.
