The Barbian waterfalls are located above the village of Barbian. Here, the Ganderbach stream cascades over the rocks in several stages. The waterfalls are particularly impressive in spring and after heavy rainfall. The hike is suitable for sure-footed hikers and families with children who are experienced walkers.
Start in the centre of Barbian and follow the signs towards the waterfalls. Depending on the circular route you choose, allow around two to three hours of walking time. The trail is moderately difficult and includes steep, rocky and sometimes slippery sections.
Wear sturdy hiking shoes and stay on the marked trails. Take particular care in wet conditions. Keep a safe distance from rock edges and the stream. In winter, snow and ice may make the trail impassable.
From Klausen, take the SS12 towards Bolzano to Waidbruck. Turn towards Barbian and continue to the village centre. The hike to the waterfalls starts from there.
