This section of the Keschtnweg leads from Brixen/Bressanone through noble chestnut groves to the artist’s town of Klausen/Chiusa. Marvel at the stunning views from the scenic path and the characteristic cultural landscape of the Eisacktal Valley.

Further information and useful links

The starting point of the „Keschtnweg“ is opposite the Forum-Brixen (parking garage). From here, follow the „St. Cyrillusweg“ (sign E10 and No. 8) uphill along Burgfriedengasse (underpass of the highway) to the Südtiroler Kinderdorf. Then cross the Talhofer-Graben, turn right from the asphalt road at a bridge, and hike along the „Europa-Besinnungsweg“ towards the St. Cyrillus chapel. From here, the path—always marked as „Keschtnweg“—leads to Breitwieser-Hof and via a field path downhill to Zimmermann-Hof, until the asphalt road is reached and one ascends to the hamlet Pinzagen. On flat field paths, walk southward to Rittner Höfe and Sader-Hof (opportunity to stop for refreshments) to Tötschling. Now hike right through a spruce forest to Gasthof Wöhrmaurer (opportunity to stop for refreshments) and Wöhrmann-Hof. The „Keschtnweg“ continues mostly on flat paths through fields to Ziernfelder (farm) and downhill via Schnauderer Straße to Feldthurns.

The route passes through the center of Feldthurns to the district Pedratz. At Radoar-Hof (opportunity to stop for refreshments), follow the field path and climb steeply for a short distance to the wide farm path, which leads through a beautiful chestnut grove—locally called “Keschtnloach”—to Weinbrenner-Hof. After about 30 minutes, one reaches the beautifully situated farm complex of „Moar zu Viersch“.

Through a chestnut grove and orchards, one arrives at the settlement Pardell and Gasthof Huber (opportunity to stop for refreshments), where views open up to the Säben monastery and the lower Eisacktal. Via a short, slightly steep path, one reaches the monastery complex of Säben with its atmospheric churches. The descent proceeds along a paved path until Klausen is reached, which has long been a popular destination for travelers, pilgrims, and renowned artists.

Return journey to Brixen by train and city bus to Brixen.
