The Milk Trail is an informative hike that gives you insights into dairy farming and South Tyrolean culture. The route is particularly suitable for nature lovers and anyone interested in learning more about alpine farming traditions.
The starting point of the hike is the Berg am Boden parking lot at the end of the Vals Valley. From there, follow the signs towards Fane Alm. The route first follows the paved road for a short distance until you reach Kurzkofel Hut, where you cross the stream. Here, the Milk Trail, Trail No. 17, begins and climbs steadily uphill. Along the trail, information boards explain South Tyrol's dairy farming.
After the ascent, you reach Fane Alm, the destination of the hike. This charming alpine village is nestled in the heart of the mountain landscape.
In the ski and holiday area Gitschberg Jochtal you can get an Adventure Book at your accommodation or at the tourist offices. This special booklet features ten selected hikes, each with a stamp station along the way, where you can collect an imprint in your Adventure Book.
With three stamps, you can claim a bronze medal at the tourist offices in Mühlbach, Rodeneck, Terenten, Vals, or Meransen. Six stamps earn you a silver medal, and with all ten, you’ll be awarded the prestigious gold medal!
