Branzoll Castle was built around 1250 by the Lords of Säben. Between 1465 and 1671, it served as the residence of the prince-bishop’s administrative judge.
After a fire in 1671, the castle remained in ruins for more than two centuries. In 1895, it was purchased by the renowned castle historian and enthusiast Dr. Otto Piper, who had it rebuilt.
Today, Branzoll Castle is privately owned and inhabited by a family from Klausen. Unfortunately, it is not open to visitors.
