This tour offers varied routes, sporting challenges and wide views from the Steiner Mandl panoramic platform. It is ideal if you want to explore the Vals Valley by mountain bike.
The starting point is at Rio di Pusteria train station. From there, cycle towards Spinges and continue uphill to the Bunker recreation area, where the paved road ends. Forest road no. 9 begins here and leads to the Anratterhütte in the Jochtal area, towards the Jochtal mountain station. Some steep sections require strength and a good level of fitness. In places, you may need to push your bike.
You then reach the Steiner Mandl panoramic platform, which offers a 360-degree view of the surrounding mountain landscape.
Afterwards, ride back to the Anratterhütte and follow the forest road towards the Nockalm. At the next junction, turn left and descend to Valsegg below Vals. Continue along the route to the reservoir and briefly follow the road to the Untereggerhof. From there, an access road leads into the forest and continues onto a forest road. After the wooden bridge, follow the paved Valserweg back to Rio di Pusteria.
