Lake Totensee lies in a mountain hollow below the well-known little church “Am Toten”. Surrounded by boulders, it sits at an altitude of 2,200 m. Its rather macabre name actually comes from the agricultural term “tot”, meaning “unproductive” or “barren” (low-yield).
