It is a precious habitat, home to both people and wildlife – a place where we can breathe deeply and reconnect with ourselves. And it is exactly this space we want to protect. How, you might ask?
At 3,134 metres, the Wilde Kreuzspitze is the highest peak in the Pfunderer Mountains and offers spectacular panoramic views of the Zillertal Alps. Starting from the car park at Fane Alm (1,700 m), the route leads through the Valler Schramme gorge past Wilder See lake (2,580 m) to Rauhtaljoch ridge (2,807 m) and then follows a partly exposed section up to the summit. The descent leads through the Rauhtal valley to Brixner Hütte mountain hut and back to Fane Alm.
Meeting point: car park at the Jochtal cable car valley station in Vals. From there, we will drive together in our own cars to Fane Alm, the starting point of the hike. Car-sharing can be arranged on site. Please note that parking at Fane Alm is subject to a fee.
Refreshment stops: mountain huts at Fane Alm, Labeseben Alm and Brixner Hütte | Tour details: approx. 18 km, 1,400 metres of elevation gain, 7 hours of walking time | Total duration: approx. 8 hours
Useful informations / what to bring
Requirements: very good stamina, sure-footedness and a head for heights.
To fully enjoy the hike, we recommend wearing weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear, and bringing along a snack and enough water.
