What art accompanies people in Brixen in their homes? Which works are particularly important to them – and what stories are connected to them?
CURATED BY YOU – REVISITED picks up on the exhibition concept by Lisa Trockner and Eva von Ingram Harpf from 2017, bringing private favorite artworks from Brixen living rooms right into the city – under the Brixen arcades.
The city’s first citizen kicks things off: Mayor Andreas Jungmann opens his private art collection and selects a work that accompanies him daily. It hangs in the entrance area of his house and greets everyone who enters. For him, it stands for humility and groundedness – and at the same time, it leaves much open and sharpens the senses upon closer inspection.
Which work he has selected will be revealed at the opening event. And with that, the story begins: The mayor nominates another person from Brixen, who in turn nominates the next. Thus, CURATED BY YOU grows as an open nomination chain from person to person, from artwork to artwork, and from story to story. Every three weeks, a new favorite artwork moves into the display case, along with a new personal story.
Which work the mayor brings into the display case under the arcades – and whom he nominates next? We will reveal this on September 10 at 6:30 PM.
In collaboration with Stadtmarketing Brixen and four Brixen businesses: Exon, Janek Glas Art, Schmid & von Bosio, and Weltladen, the project expands into the urban space: The shops design the surroundings of the display case with selected objects from their assortment and thus connect art, everyday life, and city life.
