This hike connects the two historic villages of Villanders and Chiusa and leads through the varied cultural landscape of the Isarco Valley. Along the Chestnut Trail, hikers can enjoy beautiful views, traditional landscapes, and the medieval old town of Chiusa. The return route through the Villanders vineyards completes the experience with insights into the region’s wine-growing tradition.
The hike leads along the Chestnut Trail to the Buschenschank Johannser and continues along the Iron Trail to the medieval town of Chiusa. After a stop in Chiusa, the return route follows hiking trail no. 4 back to the starting point in the centre of Villanders.

How to get there
Take the Chiusa motorway exit and leave the first roundabout at the first exit. At the following roundabout, take the second exit. Follow the road and then turn right towards Villanders. Continue along the road until you reach the village. At the DESPAR, continue straight into the cul-de-sac and take the first turn left towards the sports area. A small free car park is available there.
