It is a precious habitat, home to both people and wildlife – a place where we can breathe deeply and reconnect with ourselves. And it is exactly this space we want to protect. How, you might ask?
From the Gasser Hut (1,756 m, car park) follow trail no. 6/15 towards the Mair in Plun Alp, along the reservoir. At the signpost, turn right onto trail no. 24, initially over a wooden boardwalk, to the beautifully located mountain inn “Am Rinderplatz” (1,799 m). From there, take forest road no. 23 westwards back to the alp road no. 6/15, then follow it gently uphill northwards to the Stöffl Hut (2,057 m). The loop continues from the Stöffl Hut on trail no. 15A northwards to the Gfohl Alp (2,122 m). There, turn left onto trail no. 1A to Scholer Bild (2,107 m, junction with trail no. 1). Continue on trail no. 1 heading south for a longer section across damp mossy meadows—partly on wooden boardwalks, otherwise on a moor path marked with posts—until you reach the dry track no. 6 (2,080 m; to the right, uphill, the route leads to the Pfroder Alp refreshment stop and to the Totenkirchl). Return on the road descending eastwards to the Mair in Plun Alp (1,860 m) and back to the starting point at the Gasser Hut.
