The hike starts at the parking area in Winnebachtal. From there, follow the wide forest road marked no. 23, which climbs gently into the valley towards Astnerberg Alm, open from May until the end of October. From the mountain hut, the trail becomes steeper and leads to the waterfall. A more relaxed section follows. Higher up, a moderate ascent takes you to Tiefrastenhütte, which has no weekly closing day, and to Tiefrasten Lake.
The return follows the same route as the ascent.
