The starting point of the hike is the parking lot in the Winnebach Valley. From there, follow the wide forest road with Trail No. 23, which climbs gently into the valley to the Astnerberg Alm, open from May until the end of October. From the alpine hut, the trail becomes steeper and leads to the waterfall. After that, the route becomes more gentle. Higher up, the trail climbs moderately again and leads to the Tiefrasten Hut, which has no closing day, and the Lake Tiefrasten.
Return along the same route. The hike ends back at the parking lot in the Winnebach Valley.
To continue higher, you can explore several surrounding peaks from the hut, including Hochgrubbachspitze, Kempspitze and Eidechsspitze, which are particularly popular with summit hikers. Check the opening hours of the mountain huts in advance to plan your excursion accordingly.
