The starting point is the paid Altfasstal parking lot. From there, follow the shaded, almost level forest road to the Kneipp facility. The route then continues with no significant elevation gain to the Großberghütte. Once you leave the forest, the view opens up over the sunny Altfasstal Valley.
The well-signposted trail follows a small stream through the valley. At the end of the Altfasstal Valley, you reach the Wieserhütte and the Pranter Stadlhütte at 1,850 metres, both offering refreshments.
Tip: For the return journey, you can hire a mountain bike and ride back down the valley.
In the ski and holiday area Gitschberg Jochtal you can get an Adventure Book at your accommodation or at the tourist offices. This special booklet features ten selected hikes, each with a stamp station along the way, where you can collect an imprint in your Adventure Book.
With three stamps, you can claim a bronze medal at the tourist offices in Mühlbach, Rodeneck, Terenten, Vals, or Meransen. Six stamps earn you a silver medal, and with all ten, you’ll be awarded the prestigious gold medal!
