It is a precious habitat, home to both people and wildlife – a place where we can breathe deeply and reconnect with ourselves. And it is exactly this space we want to protect. How, you might ask?
The hike starts at Sambergerhof and follows the so-called Senior Trail (no. 21A) to the junction with the old Waalweg irrigation path (no. 22). We follow it until it meets trail no. 23. Continuing on trail 23, we then turn left onto the Sam circular route (no. 24). This leads past the Rinderplatz Hut to the Gasser Hut. The return is via trail no. 20.

How to get there
In Villanders, first follow the signs to the Villanders Alp (turn right at the DESPAR). After about 15 minutes of driving, you reach a small parking area next to the Sambergerhof Hotel.
