The hike to the Pertinger Alm combines nature, history and refreshments. Along the forest trail, you can discover the legendary Teufelsstein. At the hut, wide views over the Pustertal Valley and South Tyrolean specialities await you.
The hike starts at the Schneeberg parking lot and initially follows the forest road along trail no. 5 towards Pertinger Alm. About halfway along the route, a path branches off to the left and leads through the forest to the Devil’s Stone. According to legend, the devil himself brought the stone here because he was furious with the farmers of Mühlwald. He wanted to roll it down from Mutenock into the valley, but became tired from its weight and stopped to rest. When the morning bell rang, the devil was forced to flee back to the underworld, leaving the stone in the forest, where it remains to this day.
From there, the trail continues through the forest to Pertinger Alm, a managed mountain hut serving food and drinks. Here you can enjoy a panoramic view over Puster Valley and taste local specialities. Away from the bustle of the valley, you can find a quiet place to relax.
