An autumn hike from Kollmann via Saubach to Barbian, leading through chestnut groves, traditional farms and sunny rural landscapes.

The autumn hike connects Kollmann on the valley floor with Saubach and the higher village of Barbian. The varied route leads through chestnut groves, past traditional farms and across the sunny slopes of the Eisack Valley.

The walk offers attractive views of the surrounding countryside and the mountains on the opposite side of the valley. It is especially beautiful during the autumn colours and the traditional Törggelen season. Bus 346 provides a return connection from Barbian.

The hike begins in the centre of Kollmann. From there, follow trail no. 8A uphill towards Saubach. The route leaves the valley floor and follows woodland and meadow paths as well as some paved access roads.

After the long climb, you reach Saubach. Here you can take a break and, depending on opening times, stop at one of the local restaurants.
