The starting point of the hike is the Schneeberg parking lot. From there, follow forest road no. 5 directly to the Pertinger Alm, where refreshments are available. Continue northwards. After leaving the tree line behind, the trail follows a gentle ridge up to the summit of Am Joch at 2,405 metres.
From the summit, a 360-degree panoramic view stretches from Mount Haunold and the Three Peaks in the east across Monte Cristallo, the Sennes and Fanes mountain groups, and Mount Peitlerkofel (Sass de Putia) to the Schlern massif in the southwest. To the north lie the Zillertal Alps, while the Dureck and Rieserferner mountain groups can be seen to the northeast.
The descent follows the same route back. The hike ends back at the Schneeberg parking lot.
