Start at the Schneeberg parking lot and follow forest road no. 5 directly to the Pertinger Alm, where refreshments are available. From there, continue north. After passing the tree line, the trail leads along a gentle ridge to the summit of Am Joch at 2,405 metres.
From the summit, the 360-degree panoramic view stretches from Haunold and the Three Peaks in the east across Monte Cristallo, the Sennes and Fanes mountains and Peitlerkofel to the Schlern in the south-west. The Zillertal Alps lie to the north, while the Dureck and Rieserferner groups can be seen to the north-east.
